Beyond Gardening
Burke & Beyond is excited to announce that we have received funding from the City of Greater Dandenong to establish Beyond Gardening, a new social enterprise that will create meaningful employment opportunities for people with disability while providing professional garden maintenance services to the local community.
The funding will support the purchase of specialist equipment, the establishment of the service and the development of employment pathways for participants who are ready to build practical skills and experience in a real work environment.
Beyond Gardening has been developed as part of Burke & Beyond's commitment to creating genuine employment opportunities that build confidence, independence and community inclusion.
Participants will have the opportunity to develop practical skills in areas such as:
-
Lawn mowing
-
Garden maintenance
-
Pruning and hedging
-
Weed control
-
Garden clean-ups
-
Safe use of gardening equipment
-
Customer service and teamwork
The service will be available to residential customers, businesses, schools and community organisations throughout the City of Dandenong and Melbourne's south-east.
The social enterprise aligns with Burke & Beyond's vision of supporting people with disability to achieve their goals and participate as valued members of their community.
We are incredibly grateful to the City of Greater Dandenong for recognising the value of this initiative and investing in a project that will deliver lasting social and economic benefits for our community.
As the service is established over the coming months, we look forward to introducing our gardening team and welcoming our first customers.
