Davina Bate
Currently Principal at Giant Steps Melbourne, Davina brings more than 20 years of experience across specialist disability and autism education in both Australia and the UK. Her previous leadership roles, including Principal at Eastern Ranges School and Assistant Principal at Bulleen Heights School, have focused on strengthening educational pathways at every stage of schooling. In recent years, her work has placed particular emphasis on the transition from school to adulthood, enhancing opportunities for meaningful community participation and expanding access to lifelong learning.
Davina holds a Master of Special Education, postgraduate qualifications in autism and education, and formal school leadership accreditation (NPQH), complemented by executive leadership development through the Bastow Institute. Her leadership philosophy emphasises trust, accountability and strong collaboration with families and multidisciplinary professionals to drive continuous improvement and meaningful outcomes.
As a Board member, Davina contributes valuable expertise in safeguarding, service quality and evidence‑based program design. Her extensive experience supporting students’ transition to adulthood strongly aligns with Burke and Beyond’s educational, vocational and life‑skills programs, ensuring young adults are empowered and equipped with the skills and confidence they need to lead lives of purpose, independence and meaningful participation.
Outside of work, Davina enjoys fitness and exploring the outdoors with her partner and their boys.
